Since 1991, iTECH has specialized in designing and manufacturing batteries, chargers, docking systems and test products for the portable electronics market.
The Challenge
Due to a significant increase in product demand, iTECH was faced with an immediate and ongoing need for experienced engineering professionals. While iTECH was able to source qualified talent, it did not want to hire these individuals full-time until the company was completely satisfied with the candidate’s job performance and cultural fit within iTECH.
The Solution
KoreOne, an expert IT staff augmentation firm, was called upon to assist iTECH with its staffing challenges. KoreOne immediately implemented a custom payrolling service that allowed iTECH to temporarily engage the talent they sourced without taking on the role and legal obligations of employer. KoreOne hired these individuals and assumed full responsibility for employee wages, payroll deductions, unemployment insurance and workers’ compensation. This strategy gave iTECH hiring managers the ability to evaluate each candidate’s strengths and weaknesses on the job and make a well-informed hiring decision. Because iTECH sourced the consultants, KoreOne’s payroll services fee (with or without benefits) was significantly lower than traditional contracting rates.
Based on the success of the payrolling initiative, iTECH turned to KoreOne for technical staffing services when it became more difficult and time-consuming to identify and interview qualified candidates. KoreOne responded with highly qualified candidates that met iTECH’s specific requirements. To address iTECH’s concern about technical and cultural fit, KoreOne signed up selected candidates on a three-month, contract-to-hire basis.
